Joist: A support that plays a key role in structural integrity and stability.
An equal blend from our three vineyard sites, The Joist offers a wonderful introduction to the Hobel style. Aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, cinnamon, and leather lead into a vibrant palate marked by excellent freshness. The wine finishes long and persistent, with layers of sweet chocolate lingering on the close.
The Vintage
The 2024 growing season offered nearly everything a winemaker could ask for. Abundant winter rainfall saturated soils and replenished groundwater throughout the Napa Valley, setting the stage for a healthy growing season. Budbreak arrived right on schedule, followed by vigorous canopy growth and lush, dark green leaves. By fruit set, the vines had achieved a natural balance, requiring little additional thinning beyond our standard quality protocols.
Temperatures climbed sharply in June and July, with more than 40 days exceeding 100°F. Despite the prolonged heat, moisture retained from the winter rains, along with the vines’ full canopies, protected the clusters and allowed the fruit to mature without disruption.
As fall arrived, favorable weather continued through the final stages of ripening, allowing the fruit to remain on the vine and develop at its own pace.
